Pacific Business News included Smart Yields lead founder and CEO Vincent Kimura among its list of “10 People to Know” in the “Entrepreneurs” category.
Kimura was asked about his inspiration:
I trace my farming roots back to my grandfather, who first moved to Kauai from Japan to work the sugarcane fields. And my previous startup, a cleantech firm, worked closely with many small farms on adopting technology to grow with food safety and improving soil health to help grow more and waste less. I learned firsthand the challenges that small- and medium-sized farms face, and that they could be left behind as big players in the U.S. and internationally invested heavily in R&D.
In addition to Kimura, PBN featured Brian Chan (Scratch Kitchen), Summer Shiigi (Ten Tomorrow), Brian Goldstein (Manoa Botanicals LLC), Michael Hernandez-Soria (Hawaiian Coolwater), Isabella Hughes (Shaka Tea), Bobby Farias (Kunoa Cattle Co.), Michael Harding (aXessPoint), Yancey Unequivocally (Empowered Presentations), and Garrett Marrero (Maui Brewing Co.).
