Smart Yields was among the Hawaii startups featured by the Hawaii Governor’s office in the latest issue of “Capitol Connection,” it’s official newsletter.
The theme of the issue is “Building a Hawaii Innovation Economy,” and focused on the local startup scene, including recent pitch contests like “Pitch the Capitol,” which Smart Yields lead founder Vincent Kimura won last month.
The publication cites a recent report that ranked Hawaii 12th nationwide for startup growth, ahead of California and behind New York.
“Beyond tourism and the military, an innovation economy offers the best promise of high-quality, living wage jobs for our kids and others in this digital age,” says Gov. David Ige in the newsletter. “With the right broadband capacity to reach any part of the globe, knowledge workers can live anywhere. We want to create a place where the best and the brightest — especially our own talent — can call Hawaii home.”
